Push present

Also known as a ‘baby bauble’, this is the practice of a partner giving a gift (often a piece of jewellery) to a woman after she has given birth. Though the name is a recent construct, the practice has historically origins. In India, it is tradition for women to be given gold bangles after giving birth, to represent a long life for the child, while the Bantu people in Africa present new mothers with a cow hide.
