Cushion (cut)

Also known as pillow cut or candlelight cut, cushion cut diamonds are defined by a square cut, with rounded-off corners — like a cushion. This cut contains 58 facets, like brilliant cut diamonds, though it has less brilliance, the facets are usually larger which gives the stone more fire. A cushion cut diamond is very efficient at dispersing light, which makes it a good cut for stones with inclusions as they can be better disguised by the light separation. See also old mine cut.
