Creating a piece of jewellery by pouring molten metal – either a pure element or alloy – into a designed mould; when the metal solidifies it takes on the shape of the mould. Widely used in jewellery design, there are several different types of casting, including burn out cycle, centrifugal jewellery casting, vacuum casting and precious metal casting.
