Named after London clockmaker Christopher Pinchbeck, a type of brass designed to look like gold. Pinchbeck is most commonly mixed in a ratio of 89% copper and 11% zinc, or 93% copper and 7% zinc. The word is now used as an adjective to describe something which looks more valuable than it is.
