Jewellery style that’s made for sunshine

Summer jewellery

With August’s holiday mood in full-swing and instagram awash with blue skies and sandy beaches, we round up some of our favourite summer-inspired collections...

Elizabeth Taylor may famously have worn a suite of Cartier rubies in the swimming pool at her Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat villa, but for us mere mortals sunshine calls for a relaxed approach to accessorising. Just as your holiday wardrobe features pieces you’d only ever wear en vacances, the summer season is an excuse to branch out from your usual jewellery repertoire and adopt a playful approach.

Case in point, LA-based jeweller Jacquie Aiche, who fuses Native American relics with Middle Eastern influences. The result is a range of horn-shaped layering pendants in milky bone and vibrant lapis and turquoise that pop against sun-kissed skin - add a flash around the neck or wrist.

Pomellato, too, is well-versed in the art of seasonal adornment; the latest additions to its Capri range, in smooth colourful ceramic, hark back to the hues of its Italian homeland. Meanwhile London-based designers Tada and Toy transport you instantly to downtown LA, with ultra-fine stackable pieces including star-adorned body chains to sparkle underneath a lightweight shirt or beach cover-up - the perfect partner for The Hoop Stations minimal earring designs.

Tanned hands are the perfect base for rediscovering the merits of a single standout cocktail ring – seek out chunky and colourful via Venyx’s Oseanyx’s sea-inspired collection - if wrapping your finger in the gemstone-studded legs of a starfish doesn’t get you in the holiday mood, nothing will.
